Hey everyone! Things have been busy here at Richard Petty Driving Experience but we’re back with another edition of Answers from “The King.” Thanks to all of you who submitted questions.
All the years you were behind the wheel, your wife was a big part of your support team. How is she doing now that you are not behind the wheel anymore?
My wife Lynda has been with me through everything – she has seen every wreck, every flip and every injury I had during my racing career and she still stuck with me. Now that I’m done racing, she is definitely more relaxed. I think she feels better knowing that now, when I’m at the race track, the only vehicle I’m in is a golf cart!
What would you say your proudest moments are both personally and professionally?
No question, receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom is my proudest moment ever.
Will you expand to a 3 or possible 4 car team in the near future?
It’s always a possibility. Running a race team is a tough job – something I love – but it’s still hard. If the opportunity presents itself in the future, we would always be open to expanding our team. Right now, we’re just focused on running real good for the remainder of the 2011 season.
Have you ever participated in one of the Ride-Alongs as an instructor? Have you ever wanted to drive one of the new generation of cars?
No – although I know a lot of people have asked! I leave that to the guys we have out there at the track every day – they are real good. No, I have never wanted to drive one of the new generation of cars, either, I like what we used to drive just fine.
