RPDE Announces 4th Grader from Mooresville, N.C. as “Draw The King” Contest Winner

Concord, NC (June 12, 2013) – Richard Petty Driving Experience (RPDE), the worldwide leader in stock car drive and ride entertainment, announced Joshua Howard from Mooresville, N.C. as the winner of the “Draw The King” Contest.

To celebrate the expansion of the Junior Ride-Along program into the Charlotte and Daytona markets, RPDE’s contest invited children, ages 6 to 13 (and at least 48 inches tall), to submit a hand-drawn picture of legendary Richard Petty, ‘The King’ of NASCAR racing, for a chance to win a Junior Ride-Along party for 10 Junior Riders and the opportunity to have their drawing on the hood of the Junior Ride-Along cars in Daytona, Orlando and Charlotte.

Joshua Howard, a fourth grader from Lake Norman Elementary in Mooresville, N.C. submitted the winning sketch for the hood, showcasing an American flag with the silhouette of Richard Petty and his legendary cowboy hat in the blue portion where the stars would be. Instead of 50 stars for the 50 states, Howard drew four stars to the left of ‘The King’ and three on the right to showcase Petty’s racing number, 43. Howard says he is a big NASCAR fan and his hobbies include “going to races with dad and drawing.”

More than 70 drawings were submitted for judging from all over the South. Ten finalists were selected by a panel of RPDE judges and ‘The King’ himself decided the ultimate winner.

Howard will receive his original sketch back signed by Petty as well as a Junior Ride-Along party for 10 friends on July 13 where the RPDE team will reveal the stock car wrapped with Howard’s drawing on the hood.
RPDE’s Junior Ride-Along program gives children ages 6 to 13 (and at least 48 inches tall) the opportunity to experience real-life racing excitement while they ride-along shotgun with a professional driving instructor for three laps in a specially equipped two-seat NASCAR race car.

RPDE Junior Ride-Alongs at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Walt Disney World Speedway are $59, and $69 at Daytona International Speedway. No reservations are required. For more information, call 800-237-3889 or visit DrivePetty.com.
